Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry and Japan Graphic Designers Association have been promoting the strengths and charms of Tohoku region through the power of design. We called for new package ideas for 10 products of 10 unique Tohoku companies, in an attempt to commercialize some of them. This exhibition showcases select 270 works by designers all over Japan.
Tohoku abounds in fascinating local resources based on its rich culture and history along with high technology and quality products, but these admirable aspects are not yet fully appreciated outside of Tohoku. At the venue of this exhibition, 270 works out of 623 entries are displayed, with the descriptions of the products’ features, the manufacturers’ requests and design concepts of the award-winning packages. I hope you enjoy the brilliant ideas and rediscover the role and power of design.
This exhibition was originally held in Sendai last year and favorably reviewed, now on traveling exhibit in Tokyo.
Please enjoy the wide variety of package designs which explore and enhance the charm and value of Tohoku products.
